Hard, 4860' elevation gain
Partially shaded at first, fully exposed for much of it
Restrooms and water at trailhead; toilet and shelter at Emerald Lake
Late summer, early fall (ice bridges/snowfields can be dangerous in spring/early summer)
*Look for mountain goats around the lake
*Bring 2-3 liters of water per person and plenty of sunscreen; the afternoon descent can get hot
*if you can shuttle a car, you can go up the Timpooneke trail to the summit, then down this one
