Rocky Peak

1.5 miles RT
easy-moderate
No shade
Best in spring or fall

Located in the Three Peaks Recreation Area

From SUU, drive east on University Blvd. (Center Street) to Main Street. Drive north on Main Street for 6 miles to Midvalley Road in Enoch. Turn left on Midvalley Road and continue on this road. After 6 miles, the road enters Three Peaks Recreation Area; keep on the same road, and drivers will pass the equestrian staging area and the mountain bike staging area.  The road will become unpaved, and drivers can follow the signs to the large group camping areas. The trailhead is located East of the pavillion area.

The Trail:

From the trailhead, the trail heads northeast toward the large peak north of the large group campsite parking area — this peak is Rocky Peak.

Dirt roads and paths cross the trail in the first section before it starts up the peak, but hikers can find posts and signs set up to try and stop four-wheelers from driving up Rocky Peak. The main trail is easy to follow after this first quarter-mile section of chaos.

The trail begins to weave up Rocky Peak, through the juniper trees. Hikers could benefit from trekking poles if the trail is too difficult to travel, but most hikers should not have issues.

After about a mile, the trail reaches the summit of Rocky Peak, which is relatively flat, and offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys.

After spending as much time as wanted on the peak, hikers will return the same way they came up the peak.
