Millrace Park

0.5 mi RT
easy
spring, summer, fall

This half-mile paved loop trail circles the perimeter of Millrace Park, passing by a scenic fishing pond and offering access to the Jordan River Parkway. Other amenities at the park include picnic facilities, a pavilion, a playground, and an off-leash area for dogs (see restrictions). This trail is suitable for children and adults of all skill and fitness levels.

The Trailhead

Millrace Park is located at 1200 W. 5400 S. in Taylorsville, UT. To reach the park from I-15 in Murray:

Take Exit 300 for 5300 South.
Turn west onto 5300 South.
Drive 1.3 miles to Millrace Park on the right side of the road.
The Hike

From the parking area, begin walking on the pathway heading north from the playground area. A fishing pond with a pleasant wetland setting is soon encountered on the left. Even if you aren’t there to fish, it’s worth the short walk out onto the fishing dock to take in the sight. It’s not uncommon to see birds and various waterfowl stopping to rest on the water and in the surrounding foliage.

Beyond the fishing dock, the trail turns left as it begins to circle around the perimeter of the park. Several picnic tables and shady benches are available along the way. Continue walking until the trail eventually curves back toward the playground area to complete the loop.
