Sunrise Point Trail (Sandy)

0.5 mi RT
easy
year round

The Sunrise Point Trail is a charming hike to a scenic viewpoint along the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains. This short hike is perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a short, rewarding walk. The trail has some uneven, rocky surfaces but is mostly level, descending just 26 feet to the viewpoint.

This hike is suitable for children and adults of all skill levels.

Trailhead

The Sunrise Point Trail begins at the trailhead for the North Rim Trail near the east end of Dimple Dell Park. The trailhead is located at 2960 Mount Jordan Road (40.570407,-111.807541).

There is a large gravel parking area on the south side of the street where the trail begins.

The Hike

The trail begins at the south end of the parking area near a sign board. There are two trails here; on the right is the much larger North Rim Trail that traverses the rim of Dimple Dell Park. The Sunrise Point Trail is on the left. Both trails are marked with wooden posts.

Continue on the Sunrise Point Trail for approximately a quarter mile as it descends gently down a dirt and gravel path. The trail ends at Sunrise Point where there is a nice bench overlooking the foothills and the east end of Dimple Dell.

Return the way you came. Round trip mileage is approximately 0.5 miles.
